Project Location: Mobile, Alabama
Restoration of the historic 1908 Battle House Hotel in downtown Mobile features lobby and ballroom renovation, new guest rooms and a complete overhaul of the hotel's infrastructure. The project is part of the $162 million RSA Battle House office/hotel project underway by the Retirement Systems of Alabama in downtown Mobile. Originally built in 1852, the Battle House Hotel once offered many amenities and was destroyed by fire in 1905. The current hotel is being erected on the site of the original building. Scheduled for completion in 2006, this $25 million project returns grand ballrooms, elegant social spaces and soaring rotundas from years gone by. The 250-room, seven-story hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
