Acting as general contractor, White-Spunner Construction built this LEED-Certified Silver Facility for Faulkner State Community College in record time, completion taking place in just ten months. This two-story building, located on the school's main campus, boasts 54,000 square feet.
Departments under the roof of Memorial Hall include:
- Admissions
- Financial Aid/Business Offices
- Veterans' Affairs
- Housing
- Student Development
- Student Services
- Recruiting
- High School Programs
- Bookstore
- Counselors & Advisors
- Nine New Classrooms
- Nine New Faculty Offices
Highlights of the new facility include a brick and cultured-stone exterior over metal-stud framing. The roof is composed primarily of asphalt shingles with an area of membrane roofing and standing seam metal roofs at the entrances. The HVAC is a chiller based system with individual controls via VAV boxes in each space. A large, roof-panoramic skylight channeled to both floors lowers the building's energy needs to ensure it's a LEED-accredited facility. Additional green efforts include water conserving fixtures, use of recycled building materials and finally, recycling of 74% of construction wastes.
