Abuelo’s, opening its first restaurant in 1989, has made a distinctive mark on the casual dining landscape and not just for good food. The buildings’ unique architecture transports guests into the world of Old Mexico with hand painted murals, imported statuary, elegant high-end finishes, pre-cast stone and custom woodwork. Each restaurant, from 7,500 to 8,100 square feet, is built in 120 days. White-Spunner Construction has built Abuelo’s restaurants in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas.
