The AHEPA 296 assisted living facility is a 42,222-square-foot, 3-story structure with 50 apartment units especially adapted for senior citizens. The building envelope
consists of wood framing with brick veneer, insulated window units and asphalt shingles over plywood decking on the roof. This building also features a multi-purpose room, cafeteria, community room, library, common laundry area, an elevator, office space for property managers, an emergency call system in all units and secured access. These 50 apartment units are subsidized by HUD and provide affordable housing for elderly people in the local community. The AHEPA National Housing Corporation was the sponsor for this project. The majority of the costs were funded by the U.S. Department of Housing through a Capital Advance Grant and by the State of Florida’s SHIP Program.
