White-Spunner Construction built this Student Business and Instructional Services Center for Faulkner State Community College in record time, completion taking place in just 10 months. This 2-story LEED certified building, located on the school's main campus, boasts 54,000 square feet. Highlights of the facility include a brick and cultured-stone exterior over metal-stud framing. The roof is composed primarily of asphalt shingles with an area of membrane roofing and standing seam metal roofs at the entrances. The HVAC is a chiller based system with individual controls via VAV boxes in each space. A large, roof-panoramic skylight channeled to both floors lowers the building's energy needs to ensure it is a LEED accredited facility. Additional green efforts include water conserving fixtures, the use of recycled building materials and recycling 74 percent of construction wastes.
