This unique facility became the state’s first hurricane shelter able to withstand wind gusts of up to 200 miles per hour. Centrally located in Baldwin County, the coliseum serves as a shelter during a hurricane or tornado, as well as multi-purpose large event venue. The 79,000-square-foot arena, located adjacent to the coliseum, is an open-air structure rated to withstand 140-mph winds.
