Mobile, Alabama (December 5, 2012) - The Alabama AGC recently announced winners for its 2012 BuildSouth Awards. White-Spunner Construction, Inc., based in Mobile, AL, received the Association's award in the category “New Building Construction” for its work on Faulkner State Community College Memorial Hall in Bay Minette, AL. Ten contractors from across the state will be honored with the Alabama AGC's BuildSouth Awards at the Association's 15th annual banquet on January, 11, 2013, 6pm at The Club in Birmingham. Projects in 13 categories were recognized by judges as the most outstanding completed in 2012. The BuildSouth competition is open to all Alabama AGC general and specialty contractor members. Projects are awarded in the following categories: building construction, design/build, highway construction, international, construction management, heavy industrial construction and municipal utilities construction. Projects were judged on multiple criteria, including the following: • Meeting the challenge of a difficult job, • Excellence in project management, • Innovation in construction techniques or materials, • State-of-the-art advancement, • Sensitivity to environment and surroundings, and • Contractor’s contribution to the community. Acting as General Contractor, White-Spunner Construction completed Faulkner State Community College's Memorial Hall in just ten months. The new, two-story building on the school's Bay Minette campus boasts 42,000 square feet and is LEED-Silver Certified.
