Community involvement has always been a top priority here at White-Spunner Construction. Our company and employees are dedicated to giving back to our community year-round, but at Christmas time, we like to do just a little bit extra to reach out and help those in need.

This year, WSC was proud to participate in WPMI Local 15’s “Making Spirits Bright” campaign by sponsoring the Bay Area Food Bank. By sponsoring this local food bank, we were able to help fund the distribution of food and groceries to local families in need. The Bay Area Food Bank has had almost 11 million pounds of groceries donated by local grocers this year. To see the story that aired on WPMI Local 15 News, check out the link below:

WSC was also honored to help out another local organization by donating Christmas gifts to the kids at the Ruff Wilson Youth Center in Daphne. WSC has been blessed to partner with this organization, the Executive Director Mrs. Barbara Brown and the Board of Directors for 20 years.

The Youth Center held its annual Christmas party on Friday, December 19. The students enjoyed sandwiches and cupcakes before they each got to pick out a Christmas gift from the large collection of bikes, toys, games and electronics. Mrs. Brown and White-Spunner’s CEO, John White-Spunner, had gone shopping the night before and personally picked out the selection of gifts for this year’s party.

In addition to the Christmas gifts, the students who made all A’s and B’s in school were each given a special gift, a $25 Walmart gift card, as a reward for all their hard work and dedication. About half of the students made the Honor Roll this year, which according to Mrs. Brown is about double the usual number. Mrs. Brown says she plans to get some of the organization’s board members together within the next couple of weeks to take the kids shopping to spend their gift cards.

White-Spunner Construction is happy to give and invest in such a successful program for kids in our local community, and would like to thank the Ruff Wilson Youth Center for inviting us to celebrate Christmas with the organization and the students. We would also like to thank WPMI and the Bay Area Food Bank for allowing us to participate in this year’s “Making Spirits Bright” campaign and to help out with such a worthy cause. From all of us here at WSC, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
