Mobile, Alabama (May 9, 2010) White-Spunner Construction Inc. has been ranked in the Top 20 on the list of South Central Construction Magazine’s Top 110 Contractors for 2010. The Mobile-based general contracting, design build and construction management company recently placed 19th in the listing that ranks general contractors with a permanent office in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. White-Spunner Construction, which also has branch offices in Dallas, Tx, Austin, Tx., Raleigh, N.C. and Gulfport, MS generated $180 million in regional revenue in 2009. The construction company’s financial strength also earned it top spots in the magazine’s breakout rankings that arrange contractors by state and type of construction. “We are honored and humbled to be included among the Top 20 contractors in South Central Construction Magazine’s 2010 listing,” said WSC President, Mike Fitzgerald. “We are especially thankful that we were able to improve our excellent rating from last year in spite of a tough economy. I attribute our stable growth, financial viability and zero debt to our hard-working team which remains committed to applying the highest standards of quality, safety and integrity to each and every project.” Year after year, White-Spunner consistently ranks high in SCC Magazine’s annual listings placing 33rd on the Top 110 Contractors list for 2009. But unlike construction companies that took a financial hit during the economic downturn, White-Spunner Construction has maintained an excellent financial condition through its diversity of projects and has attained an excellent rating with its bonding company. Evidence of the economic upheaval surfaced elsewhere in this year’s Top 110 Contractors ranking with the South Central region’s largest contractors reporting a $1.5 billion reduction in regional revenue in 2009 than the previous year, according to data compiled by SCC Magazine. The Top 110 reported $14.2 billion in revenue in 2009, compared to $15.7 billion in 2008, according to the magazine. In addition to making the Top 20 list, White-Spunner also stood out in several of the magazine’s top contractor breakout categories. The company: • Ranked 4th of Top 30 Alabama Contractors, with $95 million in regional revenues. • Placed 14th of the Top 80 General Building Contractors, with $154 million in regional revenue. • Ranked 19th of Top 20 Industrial Process Contractors, with $4 million in regional revenue. • Tied for 7th place on the list of Top 10 Manufacturing Contractors, with $12 million in regional revenue.
