Mobile, AL (September 18, 2012) – Mobile, AL-based, White-Spunner Construction, Inc. recently completed construction on National Bank of Commerce's newest coastal branch in the heart of downtown Fairhope, AL. The historically-sensitive project was on time and budget, completed in just seven months. Architects for the project were Walcott, Adams, Verneuille of Fairhope. At 5,900 square feet, the new bank showcases numerous elements designed to complement historic buildings in downtown Fairhope. Its exterior façade features rough brick with mortar joints that were left unraked. The hardscape was designed to protect and preserve the large existing Magnolia and Live Oak trees by using underground retainage, pervious concrete and pervious pavers within the drives and sidewalks. As a Tree City, Fairhope emphasizes natural foliage, and NBC's landscaping was designed to exceed the city's expectations. Large magnolias, pond cypress, and running ground cover were used to create a lush, natural setting. “It was an honor to participate in bringing a historically-sensitive new building to downtown Fairhope. Our team worked closely to ensure that finishes, landscaping, everything worked in tandem,” says John White-Spunner, White-Spunner Construction, Inc. “All of us at NBC couldn’t be happier with how this project turned out. The entire construction team from White-Spunner was great to work with on this project. They coordinated with our architects and the city and always let me know of any issues up front. Our expectations for this building were very high and it actually turned out better than we expected. All of the feedback we have received from our clients has been tremendous,” Robert Seaborn, Jr., President, NBC Bank, Fairhope, AL. The bank's interior finishes also contribute to its historic aesthetic, including slate flooring with mosaic accent tiles at the entrance. Throughout the building, ceiling height is an airy 11' and is mixed with revealed-edge acoustical ceiling tile and 1x6 wood v-groove with crown molding in the lobby, foyer and conference rooms. National Bank of Commerce’s main branch is in Birmingham, Alabama.
