White-Spunner Construction (WSC) was recently named as one of the 2016 Best Companies to Work for in Alabama by Business Alabama and Best Companies Group. This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in Alabama, benefiting the economy, workforce and businesses. WSC is one of 16 firms that received the honor of being named to this year's list of Best Companies to Work for in Alabama.
Founded in 1981, the team at WSC is currently celebrating their 35th year in business and their second year to be named to this list. The company was recognized as the fourth Best Company to Work for in Alabama among small-to-medium firms back in 2012.
To compete for this honor, eligible companies from across the state are evaluated based on company culture, workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, as well as the results of an employee survey measuring the employee experience. In addition to being recognized as a great place to work, participating companies also receive a feedback report from Best Companies Group based on the results of the employee survey.
"We saw a great response rate from the survey, and we believe our employees were able to capture the true culture and spirit of our company in their feedback," says John White-Spunner, President and CEO. "The success of our company is defined by our collaborative culture and dedicated workforce. Our greatest strength is our employees - they are passionate about what they do, and they share the same values and commitment to excellence our company was founded on."
In turn, WSC is committed to the individual success, health and well-being of its team by offering a generous and comprehensive benefits package, as well as state-of-the-art corporate facilities with an on-site fitness center, corporate health and wellness initiatives, team building and stress management activities, continuing education and tuition reimbursement, in-house training, and individual career pathing plans.
"We take great pride in the work we do for our clients, as well as our commitment to our employees and the community. Throughout the years, our company has worked to become not just a great place to work, but a place for our employees to call home," White-Spunner says. "As a family, we collectively celebrate individual successes, both personal and professional. We build each other up during hard times, and we hold each other accountable in our daily actions. Our aim is to create a working environment where each employee feels appreciated as a valued member of our team."
