Engineering News Record lists White-Spunner Construction, Inc. in Top 400 Contractors

[Mobile, AL] – White-Spunner Construction, Inc. is ranked 313 out of the Top 400 Contractors in the U.S. according to Engineering News-Record in its May 22, 2006 issue. The company moved up 30 spots from its ranking of 343 last year. Companies are ranked by construction revenue from the previous year. White-Spunner Construction, Inc. reported $174 million total revenue in 2005. (An estimated amount of $170.0 million, lower than actual revenue, was used by Engineering News Record for the 2006 ranking.)

Baldwin County Fair Arena Breaks Ground

[Mobile, AL] – The Baldwin County Cattle and Fair Association hosted a ground-breaking ceremony for a new 3,500-seat fair arena located just east of Highway 59 on Berner Road in Robertsdale, Ala. on Friday, April 21, 2006. White-Spunner Construction, Inc. is expected to begin working on the 79,000-square foot arena next month. The project designed by BES, Inc. of Fairhope, Ala., includes a sprinkler system that will keep dust levels down on the dirt-floored arena and a water system to clean arena seats. Ceiling fans over the bleacher-style seating will span 20-feet, generating plenty of ventilation in the open-air arena. The structure will be built to withstand 140-mile-an-hour wind load per National Hurricane Building Code guidelines. The initial contract of $2.6 million, which includes the construction of the arena and parking areas, was funded in part by the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

White-Spunner Construction, Inc. to Build Upscale Condominiums in Downtown Pensacola

(Mobile, Alabama) The Floridian, a 60-unit luxury condominium development, is a 222,789 square foot project including 11,902 square feet of retail space on the lower level, parking on levels one through three, and residential units on levels four through eight. It will be built on the corner of Palafax and Main Streets near Pensacola Bay. Each unit will be 800 to 2,500 square feet and feature 10-foot ceilings, detailed millwork and balconies that overlook the bay. White-Spunner Construction was chosen to build Pensacola’s first “mixed-use” development intended to bring together residences, retail and public spaces to make the downtown area a destination spot for the community. The mixed-use concept has been successful in areas like Kansas City, Missouri and suburban Houston, in re-energizing downtown areas and spurring economic development. White-Spunner Construction Completes Yacht Club at Terry Cove

[Orange Beach, AL] – The Yacht Club of Terry Cove is now open to residents and interested buyers in Orange Beach, Ala. Designed by, Phillip Owens & Associates, architects in Mobile, Ala. the six-story building includes five stories of 20 units of luxury residential condominiums and a bottom floor parking garage. Each condominium consists of 3,288 square feet of living area and includes a deep water boat slip. Special features of this project include Spanish mission architecture, pool-side cabanas, a pool, private elevators, covered parking, a fitness center and private storage units. White-Spunner Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor and completed the project in 15 months despite work stoppages after Hurricanes Ivan (September 2004) and Katrina (August 2005). The property owner is YC, LLC of Point Clear, Ala.

Proceeds to support St. Jude by the Bay, the local chapter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. (Mobile, Alabama) White-Spunner Construction, Inc. is the major sponsor for the Mayor Mike Dow testimonial banquet to be held on August 16, 2005 at the Riverview Plaza. The sponsorship of the banquet benefits the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Mayor Dow will be presented the Dapper Danny Award, named after the late Danny Thomas, founder of the hospital. Mayor Dow is being honored for his 16 years of service as Mayor to the City of Mobile. As the major sponsor of the event, White-Spunner Construction, Inc. is giving back to the community of Mobile. The chapter in Mobile called, St. Jude by the Bay, is one of the many chapters across the United States raising awareness and money for the St. Jude Research Hospital.
