White-Spunner Construction builds more than just projects - we build communities. Our company was founded with the fundamental belief that the cornerstone of any business is its involvement within the community. For the past 35 years, we've been committed to making the communities where we work and live a better place for all. We believe that by giving back and serving others, we can make a greater and longer lasting impact than the actual structures we build.
Over the past 10 years, White-Spunner Construction and our employees have helped more than 200 organizations across the country and internationally through corporate sponsorships and financial support, in-kind donations, volunteer work and personal contributions.
White-Spunner Construction's scholarship program was established in the fall of 2000 to provide college scholarship opportunities for children of WSC employees. The program seeks qualities of excellence in its applicants, awarding those who strive for academic achievement and character development, have demonstrated leadership, and proven devotion to community service. Each year, a candidate is chosen to receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Each winner is then eligible to receive three additional $1,000 scholarships for the next three years provided they maintain a 3.0 or above grade point average while taking a minimum of 15 credit hours each semester. We believe investing in education is vital to the continued growth and success of our communities, and we are thankful to be able to provide this opportunity to our employees and their children.
White-Spunner Construction recognizes that advancement of local small and disadvantaged businesses, including those owned and operated by minorities, women and disabled veterans, is crucial to the continued growth and development of the communities in which we live and work. We have developed an extensive network of these valued partners and have engaged them successfully on a number of projects.
Our company also recognizes that the future of our industry depends on the development and expansion of our workforce, and we are committed to helping jobseekers in our community gain access to the construction industry as a potential career path. We believe it is important to proactively seek potential employees and subcontractors, educate them on project opportunities and how they best fit, and help them gain knowledge and experience to further their careers.
